Is it free to request bids?
Yes. Customers post for free. The 3% customer service fee is added when hiring and paying for a project.
Are all contractors background checked?
No. Checks are optional. A “Background Checked” badge identifies contractors who have passed the applicable check. Both membership options require owner approval and the credentials required for their work.
How long does bidding take?
Standard bidding lasts 48 hours; emergency bidding lasts 30 minutes. You can accept a bid sooner. If no one bids, A-1 asks before extending the deadline. Availability and a response are not guaranteed.
Can I request more than one service?
Yes. Each service can have its own contractor, bid, contract, milestones, and payment allocation.
